Al Lloyd (Doc) is a native of the inner city of Chicago’s Westside. His American heritage roots sprang from the Mississippi Delta. God called Al to preach the Gospel of Christ in 1979. He served as interim pastor of a few local Christian assemblies of southern Illinois and pastored one of them from 1980 until 1985 when he then joined the United States Army.
After completing his tour of duty with an honorable military discharge, in 1993, Al was commissioned by God to serve as pastor of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago. Al received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. He completed two master degrees from the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of (TEDS) of Deerfield, Illinois. And he also completed his doctorate degree from TEDS. Al has served as a church development consultant with the Chicago Metropolitan Baptist Association (CMBA). He also served as vice president of the Baptist Pastors Fellowship of Chicago. He founded Pure Truth Seekers (PTS) in order to encourage others to be continuous students seeking the purest truth.
Al is the husband of Linda, a graduate of Illinois State University (B.S. degree). A former flight attendant, Linda is a successful entrepreneur and corporations consultant. She currently serves Jesus by coaching willing youth and women seeking to experience completeness in Him. Al and Linda are parents to Matthew, Robert and Haley. They have traveled around the world to places that include Europe, the Middle East, Canada, and the Caribbean. Doc (Al) has provided chaplain services for some of Chicago’s hospitals. He was awarded the distinguished Army Commendation Medal for honorable military service to this country. He is published author. And Dr. Lloyd is a cousin of late Soul Stirrer, and soul music pioneer Sam Cooke.
